To use a Hisense countertop ice maker, let it stand upright for 2 hours, fill the reservoir up to the MAX line, plug it in and press Start/Stop. Large ice is the default, and the machine stops by itself when the water runs out or the basket is full. These steps come from the instruction manual for the Hisense IMC2000A, the countertop bullet-ice maker Hisense sells in Europe.
Which Hisense countertop ice makers exist
We could find two Hisense countertop ice makers. Both make bullet ice, the hollow cylinders with a rounded end. Neither makes nugget ice.
- IMC2000A (product code 743807). Listed on Hisense UK and sold in the UK and the EU. It has a Start/Stop button, a size button for large or small ice, a CLEAN button and a small display.
- ICM1263. Sold in the Middle East and Africa. A retailer listing gives it 12 kg of ice per day, a 1,000 mL tank, two ice sizes, self-clean and a 220-240 V, 50 Hz power supply.
In the US, Hisense sells refrigerators with built-in ice makers. The Hisense USA online shop listed no countertop ice maker when we checked on 4 October 2026. If your ice maker is part of a Hisense refrigerator, follow the refrigerator's own manual instead of this page.
If you brought an ICM1263 or IMC2000A from abroad, read the rating label before you plug it in. The IMC2000A manual tells you to make sure your supply voltage matches the range on the rating plate. A US outlet supplies 120 V.
Parts of the IMC2000A
The manual's general description names these parts:
- Top lid with a viewing window
- Ice tray, evaporator and ice shovel (the paddle that pushes ice into the basket)
- Display and buttons
- Infrared light-emitting and light-receiving diodes (the ice-full sensor)
- Water reservoir with a MAX water level mark
- Air outlet and drain plug
- Ice basket and ice scoop
Set it up before first use
- Remove all packing material. Check the ice maker, power cord and plug for damage.
- Place it on a level surface indoors. Keep it at least 8 cm (about 3 inches) from other objects so heat can escape, and away from flames, hot plates and stoves.
- Do not tip it more than 45 degrees or turn it upside down.
- Wait 2 hours after positioning it before first use. The manual also says to keep the transparent lid open for at least 2 hours.
- Clean the inner liner, ice tray, water box, ice shovel and evaporator with a diluted solution of water and vinegar. Rinse well.
- Plug it into a grounded socket. The manual warns against multiple socket strips or portable power supplies at the back of the unit.
Fill it with drinking water only. The manual adds that pure water should not be used in this unit and recommends spring water.
Make ice
- Open the lid and take out the ice basket.
- Add water to the reservoir. Do not go above the MAX mark. If you overfill it, open the bottom drain plug to let some out.
- Plug in the power. The machine runs a de-icing step first and then goes to standby.
- Press Start/Stop. It starts in large-ice mode.
- Press the size button if you want small ice. The display shows an icon for the mode you picked.
- Put the basket back and close the lid. The display counts the running time in minutes.
What the indicators mean
- Add water: during pumping, if the machine senses no water flow within 5 seconds, it shows the water shortage icon and stops.
- Ice full: if the infrared sensor is blocked for more than 5 seconds while the compressor is off, the ice full icon flashes and the machine stops. It starts again once the sensor is clear.
Restart rules
If the compressor stops because of a water shortage, overfilling or a power cut, it takes 3 minutes to start again after you restart the machine. The manual also says to wait at least 5 minutes between switching the power on and off, to protect the compressor.
Clean it
Self-clean cycle
- Press the CLEAN button.
- Press Start/Stop. The cleaning cycle runs for about 2.5 minutes.
- Do not turn off the power during cleaning. The machine returns to standby when it is done.
Regular care
- Change the water in the reservoir at least once a day.
- Unplug the unit and remove the ice before you clean it. Use water and vinegar on the inside and outside. Do not use acids, gasoline, oil, scouring powder or hard tools.
- Clean the water tank if it has not been used for 48 hours.
- If you will not use it for a long time, drain the water out and clean the appliance.
- Keep the air outlet and other ventilation openings clear.
Clean the filter screen
Scale can block the water inlet over time. The manual says to clean the filter screen in the water tank regularly:
- Take out the ice collecting tray.
- Remove the filter cover from the water tank.
- Brush the filter cover clean under clean water.
- Put it back in place.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause listed in the manual | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Compressor buzzes | Supply voltage is lower than recommended | Stop the ice maker. Do not restart it until the voltage is normal. |
| Add water icon is on | No water, or air in the pump. This can happen after the machine has sat idle. | Fill to the MAX mark and press Start/Stop to restart. |
| Display stays dark | Blown fuse or no power | Restore power or replace the fuse. |
| Ice is too large or sticks together | Wrong size selected, or old ice left in the water tray | Select small ice. Take the ice out while the machine is in standby. |
| Cycle runs but no ice comes out | Compressor has no refrigerant, compressor damaged or fan motor damaged | Call after-sales service. |
| All indicators flash at once | Water box blocked by ice, or the motor is stuck, loose or damaged | Remove the ice under the ice shovel, plug in again and press Start/Stop. It restarts after 3 minutes. If the motor is at fault, call after-sales service. |
| Basket is full but no ice full icon | Damaged micro switch or ice-full sensor, or sunlight hitting the sensor | Move the machine indoors out of the sun. For a faulty sensor or switch, contact after-sales service. |
Ice shovel jammed
If the power is cut or switched off during a cycle, small ice chips can lodge in the ice shovel and jam it. The manual's fix:
- Unplug the power cord.
- Gently push the shovel toward the back of the interior.
- Remove the ice chips.
- Restart the machine.
If the shovel is not moving ice into the basket, first check whether the reservoir is empty. If it has water, push the shovel gently and press Start/Stop.
Warranty and repairs
The manual tells owners to contact the Hisense call centre in their country, using the number on the International Warranty Sheet in the box. If there is no call centre in your country, it says to contact your local Hisense dealer. The refrigerant is R600a (isobutane), which is flammable, so leave any repair that opens the cooling circuit to a trained technician.
